MY RECORDING:

December '07 - Soundboard, has received a Top 10 nomination for Album of the Year in the Victorian Country Music Awards. The Top 5 nominations will be announced in early January.

European chart success has been amazing this year. I have been lucky enough to have had thirteen Top10s in 12 countries with five songs, including Goodbye Lover, Hello Friend reaching the No1 spot in Ireland, my first No1 anywhere.

July '07 - The excitement continues with Goodbye Lover, Hello Friend reaching No2 on the European Country Charts in Italy and Austria. The song has also reached Top10 in the UK, Spain and Belgium. I  am also getting Airplay in many other countries including New Zealand, Canada, US, Israel and The Netherlands, and that's just the ones I know of. Nitesky Records also released Crazy onto their compilation album which has also been played here and internationally.

It has been great to get back to playing live shows again and seeing many new friends and some old friends as well. I am also talking with a PR specialist in West Virginia, US who is working on things for me which is exciting, and who knows where that will lead. I would like to sincerely thank all those wonderful DJs and industry folk who have supported me this year in particular. I am most gracious for all their supreme efforts.

June '07 - I am currently sitting at position No14 on the Worldwide Most Played Artist Chart which is based in Arizona. A most humble thanks to all the DJs who put me there, whoever you may be.

My first single, Goodbye Lover, Hello Friend reached a No 5 on the European Top 40, with my second single, Crazy, chasing it.

Feb '07 - This year is proving to be an exciting one. Most of the tracks from the Soundboard album are being heard in one country or another, with widespread airplay. The lead song at present is Goodbye Lover, Hello Friend which has been distributed by Nite*Sky Records of Ohio to 25 countries. Goodbye Lover, Hello Friend has entered the European Top 40 at No.20 with yours truly entering at No.87 in the Top 200 artists. Did I mention that I am excited? I continue to do radio interviews around Australia which is a lot of fun and I get to meet the terrific DJs who play my songs.

Nov '06 - I'm very excited to announce that the album is finally out. Now to get it to those wonderful radio stations and other kind industry folk for a push, here and there. At this time I have many Australian radio stations willing to play it, which is great news for all, but my biggest downer is that I have missed this year's entry into the Tamworth awards. Oh well there is always next year.

Sep '06 - The album is complete, the cover designed, but it's the paperwork that gets you everytime.  I am hoping for an October release so that I can qualify for the 'Oldest New Talent in Tamworth'. Actually I don't think there's an award for that. If I miss that, I can still say that I'm very happy with the album without any competitions. I'm also delighted with the general acceptance of the album from radio stations, and although still unreleased, it is the Featured Album on radio in Shepparton. Thanks Joy & Pejay. And thanks to Tony Slingsby who was first to play Streets of Your Town and believed strongly in what I have to offer. As soon as the CD is mailable, it will be off to Queensland, Alice Springs and Perth. So let's see what happens.

July '06 - The recording side of things is now complete with the cover almost done and photo sessions are still in progress. The eleven tracks turned out very nicely and some better than others and I do have my favourites. Although Andrew Gold has been in touch, he has not contributed to the album. I recorded a great song of his, Streets of Your Town which I am delighted with and hope you will be too. The songs from the EP have all changed slightly with a new guitar solo in Got To Find Me and a little fine tuning to all along the way, so the end result packs a wallop.
As there is still no record company involved yet, it is unclear as what will happen with the CD when it is finished, but I will keep you posted. I have sent three songs from the album to George Strait in Nashville as I believe one song in particular would suit him, but that is only my opinion. So, fingers crossed there.

Dec '05 - I am totally amazed at present at the reaction to my CD from other countries. At their request, I have been sending CDs to disk jockeys in Romania, Belgium, Austria, Germany, Netherlands and the home of The Beatles, Liverpool.
It would make sense if I could get a Record company to take over this project and do it properly. If my songs are being heard on radio in all these places, the public should be able to buy the CD locally.

Now that I have a few tracks finished, I thought I would give a four track CD to a few radio stations around the country and see what happens. So keep listening to your favourite country music station.

I'm hoping that the new year gives me the opportunity to bring all the right players together to get this album finished.  There doesn't seem to be enough hours in a day. I ( think we lost a few when we went metric.)

So I guess about half of the album is recorded with lots of work still to be done.  I have three tracks finished. Goodbye Lover, Hello Friend, There's a New Way and Got To Find Me have all turned really nicely thanks to the genius and patience of the master controller, Mario Agius. If the other tracks turn out as well as these I will be delighted.  I am still writing new songs for the album which hopefully should contain about eight or so original tracks with some old favourites thrown in. I have re-recorded some songs written many years ago that were either not recorded or needed re-doing anyway. The album will have a definite country feel. Well at least, that's the plan. The non-originals might come from people such as Rodney Crowell, Andrew Gold, Buck Owens or Guy Clark. It's still a 'work in progress' thing.

I have been most fortunate to assemble a great collection  of talented people to either play or sing, so I'm looking forward to the experience. Some of the guest musicians include crack aussie guitarist, Gavan Anderson (Bluestone) who played on my 1980 single. The exciting news comes from Californian guitarist/writer/producer, Andrew Gold who is currently adding his touch of genius in the form of vocals and guitar to one of his own tracks. He was the fingers and voice behind Linda Rondstat and has written the themes for the TV shows 'Golden Girls' and 'Mad About You'.

Song writing sees me in collaboration with old friend and pedal steel virtuoso, Michael Burke, who will also play on the album. He has been a much sought after session player recording with LRB, Brian Cadd, Stars, Barry Crocker, Kamahl and of course he was an original member of Bluestone.

I would like to think that the CD will be completed during 2006.  As I finish the songs, I will put samples of these on the DOWNLOADS page.

I hope it's as good for you as it was for me.

STONEY CREEK REUNION: It's time I said something on this matter. I have decided to withdraw from this project to enable me to put more time and thought into my solo project. I understand that the project is continuing with the addition of Clayton Saunders who, I know,  will do a great job. He is a born entertainer, playing bass and keyboards and certainly knows how to sing.

The intention is to record an album of old favourites first and then reproduced the album on a live show somewhere. At present they have many of the old members involved from the 1979 - 1983 line-ups.    more info:
